A First For Us

On Saturday, September 26, I took Makayla and Abigail to their first concert. We saw Taylor Swift at the Verizon Arena in Little Rock. The girls began to get sick last week and stayed home from school all week with "flu-like symptoms". They were better by Saturday but still had a cough. They got all dressed up with their outfits and make up.

And then we had to go and be ridiculous.....

Brent went with us to the concert while Alex stayed with Olivia. Olivia is now sick as well. She seems to be doing better today though. We ate at the Purple Cow before the concert. Abi and KayKay were just as excited about a purple milkshake as they were about Taylor Swift.

The remains of a purple cow shake.

Kellie Pickler opened up for Taylor Swift.

Here she comes!!!

This part of the concert was breath taking. Everyone had glow sticks going all over the arena and the spot lights on Taylor were neat.

The concert was a really great experience. I had assumed that Abi would have a blast and KayKay would be asleep before it was over, but I was wrong! KayKay stood up and danced the entire time. When Taylor Swift flipped her hair around (which was every 30 seconds it seemed like), Makayla would too. Makayla mimicked every move that Taylor made. At one point, Makayla was on her knees with her head bent down dramatically like Taylor Swift. I eventually became embarassed and asked her to stop, lol. It was a fun time though. The girls didn't know who the opening acts were so during the middle of Kellie Pickler's second song, Abi sat with her arms crossed and said " How many more songs is she gonna sing?!" We got home after midnight and that was a first for the girls as well.

I wanted to share a picture with you that Abi drew at school. I was looking through her take home folder and came across this....

I noticed the chest area and asked Abi to explain. She said, " I was trying to look like you." Ohhhhh my. I wonder what her teacher thought.

A Brand New Week

The weekend came and went and here we are back at the beginning of another week. We had a movie night at Abi's request on Friday. We ate Pizza Rolls and watched The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe.

Here is a close up of Makayla's head. You can't really tell much of her personalized hair. It looks a hot mess when I don't try to fix it though.

We went to Nana and Poppa's Saturday. The kids played outside all day. They were trying some new tricks with the hula hoops. We got to hang out with Uncle Seth and Todd too. It was a really nice afternoon.

Olivia is loving Biscuit a little more with each visit.

"Hi Biscuit"

The men, Biscuit included, congregated in the "work zone" to visit.

We cut our trip short and came home Sunday morning because Abigail was sick. She went to the doctor today and was diagnosed with "flu type symptoms". Whatever that means. Alex seems to think the doctor was being vague to not cause a panic. She is doing better this evening.

I hope that you are all doing well. I will leave you with a sweet picture of Uncle and Livi.

The Things They Do

I received the phone call that every parent dreads in their child's public school life. I was in my supervisor's office at work around 2:30 this afternoon when my name is paged overhead with a call on line 6. I am expecting a typical call from a client or professional office, but no, it was Makayla's Kindergarten teacher.

She began to explain that something had happened with Makayla and she wanted to call and explain. My mind was panicking. I just KNEW that Makayla had done something horrible. And then she said, "Makayla cut..." and I began to panic that she had gotten hurt. But the rest of the sentence was"...her hair." I began to laugh. I was SO relieved that the only thing she had done was cut her hair. After continuing to explain, and hearing me giggle numerous times about the incident, Makayla's teacher said, "My, you're taking this well." Makayla now has bangs. She also cut her socks with scissors yesterday and her teacher sent a note home. Makayla made sure that Alex and I never saw the note and that she returned the note to her teacher. Makayla folded the note up neatly so that her teacher would think that Alex and I had seen the note and then put it in her teacher's mailbox. So, needless to say, Makayla is going to keep us on our toes.

Makayla's teacher sent the hair that she cut off home in an envelope. I will be keeping it to show her what she learned in Kindergarten. Who knows, maybe she'll be cosmotologist when she grows up.

Play Time

I feel like I am falling so far behind on my blogs! I don't want to lose track of it for too long because the girls grow and change every day.

The kiddos have been all over the place these days. Homework is getting crazy all ready. It takes a good couple of hours to work through Abi's and KayKay's but at least it is just one night a week this year.

They have found all kinds of interesting things to do to keep themselves entertained. Olivia is also more opinionated all the time. I took a different road to get to Mrs. Lisa's house yesterday morning because I had to stop for gas. After I passed the road that I usually take, Olivia grumpily said from the back seat, "I unt isa's!"

Olivia is also growing out of her clothes. She is getting so tall.

These are some cow pj's that I got Olivia a long time ago in anticipation of her growing into them. And now, she fits in them, and it makes me sad! 3T!

They enjoyed coloring this box like Pinky Dinky Doo's story box. They laughed, played, and colored in there until they busted the box open. That's the cheapest and best toy they have ever had.

I loved that they decided to put their feet together to play Candy Land.

I hope to have more frequent blogs. It has been so busy around here! I will try to do better. See you soon!

Catching Up

I don't have a lot of time, but I wanted to post a few things that we have been up to lately. The girls went to a birthday party last weekend at the skating rink. They had a blast!

Alex was proud to have the girls sport these Cardinal shirts.

We were able to go in and visit our family this weekend. It was nice to get away to where things are slower paced than they are here at home. The kids LOVE seeing Nana and Poppa and playing. They get excited to see Uncle Seth as well.

Todd came over to visit too! It was great to see him.

Grammie got Livia this chicken suit at a yard sale. She loves it! She cried when we take it off of her. She has been running around with just the chicken legs on because the feathers are too hot. It is hilarious.

We saw Memaw too.

Sweet girl with her Daddy.

We have enjoyed our long weekend. And Olivia began to get sick tonight, go figure. She started complaining of a headache and running a low grade fever. I was gone grocery shopping and Alex sent me a text saying that he thought she was getting sick. I had been home about an hour and she began to vomit. Great. So, I guess I will be at home with her tomorrow and taking another trip to the doctor's office. I hope you all enjoyed your weekend.
