Daddy Time

Alex has been working like crazy and was able to take a few days off this week. We had a good time with him. We went to the mall one day and there was a trampoline high jump set up. We walked past it and Olivia kept hollering for the "horsies". We couldn't figure out why she was calling the trampoline "horsies". I walked back to them with her and figured out what she was talking about.

Makayla then wanted to try the trampoline jump. She acted very excited and kept keeping us the "thumbs up". Then, once she got strapped in, she looked extremely panicked and froze. The man that was helping her kept giving her pep talks and trying to make her less scared. He was so good with her. She was very proud of herself too.

The weather has been cloudy and rainy for a couple of days now. I think the tropical storm Alex is causing a lot of the weather. The girls and I stayed in the room for most of the day while Alex was gone to work. We played beauty shop and did hair and nails.

Olivia got her hair straightened. It was so stinkin' cute! She had fun flinging it around too.

Kay Kay and Livi got the 80's look tonight.

We are having a good time and so thankful for the opportunity to be here with Alex. We look forward to having supper with him every evening.
We hope you are all having a great week! See you soon.

p.s. Have any of you been watching Hot in Cleveland? Oh my word, it was a riot tonight!

Father's Day and then on to Daphne

We spent Father's Day at Nana and Poppa's house. Alex was still in Alabama. We had spent the week prior to Father's Day in Alabama with him. While he was at work one day, we bought him a gift and left it in the night stand drawer in his hotel room. I knew that was pretty much the only place that he didn't look or keep anything. We had a great weekend in Newhope. I feel like I have been able to actually be in the moments that we have together now that I am not obsorbed in work. My job stayed with me 24/7 and was constantly on my mind. I have a huge weight lifted off of me now.

We stayed busy back at home with Makayla in summer school four days a week. Abi also has cheer practice on Mondays from 6:30-9:00. Olivia just started gymnastics as well. Olivia and Makayla go to gymnastics on Thursdays from 6:00-7:00 and Abi from 7:00-8:30. So, we have been occupied.  We headed back on Friday to see Alex and are currently visiting him. He was at work when we got here so I loaded up all the valuables on a luggage rack and unloaded the car. It was a long and frustrating drive down here but we are so glad to be with Alex.

We went back to the Bass Pro Shop. The girls love looking at the fish. This picture reminded me of the one we have a Leslie at the zoo in Memphis. So sweet.

I straightened Makayla's hair that morning. I told Alex that I would probably have panic attacks all day in the stores when I went to look for her and couldn't find her curly head. She looked adorable and was so excited to have straight her. She has been calling herself "Barbie".

Alex has been working 100 hour weeks for the past three weeks so he earned a few days off. We went to the Marble Slab ice cream shop last night. It's a lot like ColdStone. We had a white chocolate dipped waffle bowl with S'mores ice cream.

Play Doh helps her pass the time in the hotel room. We found some ladybug flip flops that happened to be Olivia's size and she has insisted on wearing them all the time. She took a nap with them clutched to her chest. She is very proud of her ladybugs.

She wears her sunglasses upside down and her flip flops on the wrong feet.....always.
I pray that the rest of the time Alex has to spend out here on the Gulf passes with ease and safety. I am keeping my eye on Tropical Storm Alex as well. ;o)

Another Chapter In Life

We have been running around like crazy. For those of you who don't know, I recently decided to become a stay at home mom again. Actually, Alex and I decided that this would happen. He has been needed in the Gulf and I knew I would be a basket case if I was working the job that I had and taking care of the girls alone.
Here are some pictures of my coworkers. We went out to eat as part of my "going away".

We left for Mobile, AL as soon as the girls got out of school on June 4th. We stayed there with Alex for a little over a week. He was working long hours but we got to have breakfast and lunch with him most days. We had a really good time while we were there.

The girls were able to go to the beach for the first time. I took them to Gulf Shores on Monday. We stayed a couple of hours. Olivia did not enjoy the ocean waves so much. She was content sitting on the shore with her bucket and pail. She would send Abi or KayKay to the ocean to fetch her some water when she needed to water the sea weed that washed up.

I was so thankful to be able to take the girls to see the ocean and play in the sand. They were excited about it. Abi and KayKay dug for sea shells and ran into the waves. Makayla ran away from the waves a few times. None of the kids went out very far into the water. And Olivia stayed FAR away from it. I ended up with a really bad sun burn on my back and legs. I wasn't able to walk for a couple of days and that pretty much ended our time at the pool and beach for the rest of the week. The poor kids had to suffer because I didn't put enough sunscreen on. Hopefully I will have better sense next time, but these sun burns are a summer tradition for me. It's not summer time unless I end up with blisters at some point!

I also had a few pictures from Nana and Poppa's. Nana had a slip-n-slide and the girls had a good time on it. As you can see, Olivia's favorite part was drinking the water.

Poppa grilled and then the girls had roasted marshmallows. We had a really nice weekend.

I have a ton more pictures but it always seems to take forever to upload them. I will be back with more later on! Everyone have a great weekend and stay cool.
