Skywalker Crush

The following series of photos requires special attention. The girls were so excited to meet Star Wars characters. I couldn't believe how excited they were. And ,once I saw Mr. Skywalker, I understood why.
We were all so tickled once it was the girls turn to meet him. They walked up, gave him their autograph books, and Olivia latched on for a hug! Everyone was giggling at her and Mr. Skywalker was pretty stunned. I don't think he gets many hugs...from tourists at least.

Disney: Day 1

The girls could not contain themselves once we got to the resort. We stayed at the Polynesian in Disney. They ran all around and were amazed at it all. We went to Magic Kingdom once we brought our luggage up. It was Star Wars Weekend and the girls were pumped! We watched the parade and rode Star Tours. During each ride an "undercover invader" is selected out of those riding and is the reason that craft is under attack, the invader they projected onto the screen during our ride was Olivia! It was too funny.
One of the first things we did was watch actors sing and dance to High School Musical and Camp Rock songs. There were so many opportunities for the girls to be in the spotlight with characters throughout our trip. We experienced numerous magical moments during each day.
The girls wanted to ride the Tower of Terror. I told them how terrifying it was but they insisted. We screamed and clung to our seats throughout the ride. I swear my cross body bag spent 90% of the ride hovering near my head. Once it was over, I looked around to check on the girls and Abi was crying, Olivia had been screaming, and Makayla was stunned to silence. We were walking through the park later and Abi says," momma, I am NOT going to let MY kids ride that ride. At least not until they are teenagers."
We also walked into a dance party with Stitch and Goofy. And watched Beauty and the Beast in an outdoor theater.
So much fun!

That night we stayed for the electric parade and then snuck off for supper and discovered that the wait for rides was nonexistent while everyone else was watching the fireworks. It was awesome! As we walked back through the park, the "Magical Moments" of the day were being projected onto the castle. It was amazing and touching. And that triggered the first touching tears of the trip.

Seeing the Sights

We had a fun (and long) drive to Orlando. We stopped along the way to explore and experience the local businesses. The produce stand in Georgia was a memorable one. We bought some peaches for the trip and Alex had to try the popular road trip snack of peanuts in a soft drink.
We spent lots of time in the car and tried to break up the hours spent driving. Delirium set in a few times as well! More to come from our magical trip!

Pinteresting ideas

I (along with the rest of the world) am addicted to Pinterest. I have used several of the ideas from there recently.
I have pictures of most of what we have done. I am posting from my phone and don't know how to include pictures other than all together. So I will explain each the best I can but they may not be in the correct order.

We had a teacher appreciation "happy hour" at work for our classroom staff. I made pizza rolls out of biscuits, pepperoni, and cheese. They were good.

We planted some cute little flowers in metal pots for the girls teachers for teacher appreciation as well. We included a photo on a pencil that said "thank you for helping me grow".

For Easter we hunted at night. We put glow stick bracelets in plastic eggs and his them at Nana and Poppa's houses. It was SO much fun. The girls hunted until we had to make them come in the house for bed.

Pinterest is full of amazing ideas!

On the road again

We have begun our journey to Disney. The girls and I took many trips back and forth to Mobile a couple of summers ago to see Alex. And we made awesome trips! Awesome, as in, we didn't stop for long and made good time with little to no whining and fighting. This trip has included a little more grumbling and bickering. I am a culprit as well(in case you were curious)

We left Friday, May 18th, around 1:00. We spent the night in Leeds, AL.
Our sleeping arrangements are a little crazy with 5 in a room. I also have learned that ear plugs are an amazing invention when you're stuck in a room with snoring, groaning, talking in their sleep, and an air conditioner that sounds like a freight train when it kicks on. We also apparently had a child fall off the bed twice during the night. I say apparently because I never heard a thing.
We had a wonderful hotel breakfast and enjoyed our giant waffles. We are now continuing our journey on to the happiest place on earth! Pray for us...

junkin'

Debbie and I spent the day visiting local antique shops on Saturday.
We hardly ever get to spend time together outside of working together occasionally.
We met up at a local shop in Benton and made the rounds.
I immediately spotted the chair above. I am working on creating a new dining room set with mismatched chairs and am on the prowl.
I documented our day in photos.
There were antique cameras everywhere.
Very neat.
I loved this burlap cork board.
I have plans to create one soon.
I always think of my mom when I see cookware like this.
She has several pieces like this.
Deb wanted to make sure she saw everything.
And in one of the antique shops, these would have came in VERY handy.
I told her it seemed like an episode of hoarders. We could barely squeeze down the aisles with old stuff piled to the ceiling.
My brother and I watched The California Raisins all the time at my Aunt Susan's house when we were growing up. I was truly baffled when I saw a commercial on tv stating that someone other than the California Raisins sang "I heard it through the grapevine".
I just thought this was funny.
Klutch: An adhesive powder for dental plates.

This hutch is from the 1800's and I fell in love with it!
I plan to go back soon to see if someone swiped it.
My mom used to save jelly jars for us to drink out of.
Some of these were the exact same designs as the ones we had.
Amazing

Debbie and I took a lunch break at Ed and Kay's Restaurant in Benton.
That was the highest mound of calf slobber I had ever seen.
And I scraped it off. I am not fond of the slobber.
Love the chocolate pie part though.

I found a lot of amazing things and have a new project that I'm working on as a result of the weekend.
I started working on it today and the girls were outside playing. Our neighbor Andrew came over and Olivia said," Andrew, Momma is working on her special project."
Such a mess.
My outings with Debbie don't happen nearly enough and I had a great time with her.
Things are still busy around here with sports, school, and work.
I don't get to blog nearly like I want to but I am keeping photos and memories stored up for a time when I can document them.
Have a great week!
