My How You've Grown

As you can imagine, with us traveling so much this summer our yard has been neglected. Our neighbor (I'm sure you've heard me affectionately refer to them as "the yard nazi's" in the past) mowed for us around Father's Day while we were out of town. I was very thankful of their over enthusiasm for yard work on that occassion.
When I open my curtains, this is what I see.

This monster plant growing up our deck.

I kept meaning to go pull it down but the heat kept telling me to stay in the house. :)
I finally headed out a little while ago to yank the thing down. Upon closer examination, I saw berries!

Pretty little berries steming off of purple stems.
And I can't pull it up now. It's so neat. And if I knew for sure what they were, we might could eat them. Someone? Can you identify what kind of plant that is?

There's also a pretty little mess of what looks like poison ivy growing. It's mixed in with another form of ivy growing up the banister.

I love it when ivy crawls up like that. But I need to figure out how to get the bad ivy out.

Anyway, the yard is all mowed now.

Stay cool! See you Newhope-ians this weekend!

My mom sent me a text as soon as she read that post screaming "Don't eat those berries!" Lol, it's a shame. They are so pretty.
